Mercury in Pisces Forecast -Part 1
(from February 14th till March 3rd, 2025)
Starting on the morning of February 14th, Mercury, the planet of facts, figures, dialogue, exchanges, and communications, will travel through the zodiac sign of Pisces.
As I have anticipated in my post about Venus in Aries, Mercury, and Venus will travel through the very last part of Pisces simultaneously as they go through their respective retrograde cycles together later in March, making this post a Part 1.
Pisces is traditionally ruled by the planet Jupiter, representing the themes of spiritual expansion, abundance of empathy, and the search for faith and philosophy in our lives. In modern astrology, the sign of Pisces is ruled by the outer planet Neptune, which has been correlated with artistic inspiration, but also illusion, and self-deception.
The journey through this part of the zodiac can be hard to navigate for rational and matter-of-fact Mercury, which enjoys the practicality of clear and concise communication.
During this time stumbling into rabbit holes will be easier than usual, increasing the likelihood of wasting time on trivialities. However, for those of us who are lucky enough to have familiarity with the dynamics of Pisces, this can be a very fruitful time for enjoying and creating artistic projects -in particular poetry, music, high fantasy books, abstract painting, to name a few- as this influence can bring better attunement to parts of our emotion, our subconscious and our spiritual side of life.
Pisces is a receptive water sign, but unlike cardinal Cancer and fixed Scorpio, its mutable pattern of relating with the world makes this zodiac sign flighty, evasive, in constant movement, trying to cater to everybody else's emotional needs and dealing with the changeability of one's own feelings as well. It's difficult to ground ourselves in our emotions when dealing with Pisces, because of how mutable, confused and ephemeral they tend to be experienced.
For straight-to-the-facts Mercury this is a time of being comfortable with the uncertainty of feelings, a time to test the inner faith that one has developed over time by following one's guts instead of reason and hoping for the best, appealing to that jovial optimism that seems to be so hard to come by lately. Because it's so hard to keep our emotions level when the structures of our world seem to be ruinously crashing down, Mercury's journey through Pisces can feel intoxicatingly alluring. Be aware that when dealing with this zodiac sign, the methods of coping with uncontrollable external factors can become a slippery slope that leads us astray from sobriety. If you are aware of such vulnerabilities in your life, acting preemptively can help soften the severity of how this period is perceived.
From Valentine's Day until the first days of March, Mercury in Pisces will interact dynamically with other planets and energize different parts of our lives, let's dive into each one.
From approximately February 17th till the 27th, Mercury will be from a square aspect to Jupiter in Gemini. Both Mercury and Jupiter are in the position of interacting with each other from each other's domiciles, which makes this aspect particularly interesting.
Mercury's logical thinking feels lost in the realm of spiritual emotionality, whereas Jupiter's hope feels weighed down by the neverending influx of news and data that modern-day technology allows for.
With these two planets being able to interact with each other from their respective positions, this could be a rich time for course-correcting some of the negative tendencies of these two forces (one factual, the other grandiose) bring about in our lives. This can be easily done through journaling, having a hard and honest look at the ways one has been skimming over the details of larger life plans, how one's been pouncing at every business opportunity without carefully reading the fine print, how arrogantly and belittling one has been thinking or talking about others who are in more vulnerable positions than ours.
Because Mercury will travel through Pisces again later on in Q2, this is a great time to revise and straighten up the communication skills that may interfere with how our values are perceived, especially when we seek to cut life-changing business deals. Overconfidence during this time could cost us more later than what we're truly willing to bargain. The willingness to humble oneself to simpler messages that truly speak to the feelings and values one wants to convey will help streamline both our train of thought and our most ambitious relationships.
From the 21st of February till the 27th, Mercury in Pisces will deal with two influences simultaneously: a trine aspect with Mars in Cancer and a Conjunction with Saturn in Pisces.
This complex dynamic is likely to highlight and give a voice to the slow-moving progress that some of us are making in the area of our birth chart where the sign of Cancer resides. If any praise from superiors or people we hold in great esteem comes through the pipeline, it will be well deserved in light of the productiveness, and attention to detail that one has been putting in their daily tasks. However, the difficulty in navigating this time is not in the confidence of one's industrious skills, but in the general dull cast of negativity that might seem to be present everywhere else. The special place in our chart in which Mars can do his thing, and let go of frustrations through high effort and meticulous attention could easily become the only area of life in which we can experience joy or diversion.
Saturn's dynamics of restriction and concentration of energies could turn us into over-emotional pressure cookers ready to vent at any minimum movement. From our inner point of view, it might seem that others are "out to get us", whereas, they're simply reacting to our high-strung emotional state.
Projection of the qualities we most dislike in ourselves onto others could also be a common problem, which might get exacerbated by the overall frustration perceived by the planet Mars' extended stay in the sign of Cancer. If you think this might be a problem for you, try to exhaust your physical energies through vigorous workouts (health concerns allowing), or learn something new and complicated, and burn your mental energy that way. Give yourself coping options during times of high stress such as this one. The results of your perseverance should come around by April 18th, 2025 when Mars will move on and out from Cancer, hopefully having met all of his goals here.
From February 24th till March 3rd Mercury will move onto another set of two dynamics:
A sextile with Uranus in Taurus and a Conjunction with Neptune in Pisces.
During this particular mix of interactions, it's going to be important to keep our eyes peeled for dishonesty in communications and business exchanges, as well as misleading information that's been purposefully spread for the sake of making some problems harder to solve, or for taking the dishonest way out of a bargain. With Uranus's influence, the sly manipulators in our lives will have an easier time redirecting the focus of our conversation to a shiny new object, and bait us away from their true goal.
Used positively this transit could be aimed at the resolution of long-standing cyclical conflicts that have to do with both our capacity to feel compassion and our ability to accept a new alternative as a resourceful unanticipated solution.
Whether it's for the good or the bad, during these days getting to the core truth of what is being said both in the media and in our 1 to 1 conversations might turn out a harder task than usual. The only advice I have for such a moment is to keep it simple and minimal. If there's no other way out, try keeping quiet and avoid the repercussions of words that haven't been mulled over. On a more positive note, this period can be quite fruitful for experimenting and refining the skills of poetic and artistic synthesis, combining meaning and emotional perception into a new medium of expression. Good luck!
